Air Force Heritage Conference, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base

A popular feature at airshows is the Air Force Heritage Flight, in which modern jets fly in formation with vintage warbirds. Each year the participants in the Heritage Flight practice their formation flying before the airshow season at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

North American P-51D Mustang NL7TF Double Trouble Two was delivered to the US Army Air Force as 44-73856. Jim Jeffers of Stateline, Nevada registered it as N5077K in 1963. Contractor Equipment Sales of Salem, Oregon acquired it later that year. Fowler Aeronautical Services of Burbank, California bought it in 1966. Air Carriers Incorporated of Aurora, Oregon acquired it in 1969. Gale Aero Corportion of Minneapolis, Minnesota registered it as N711UP in 1969. Tom Friedkin and Cinema Air Incorporated of Houston, Texas registered it as N71TF in 1976. It was restored as 44-63684 Double Trouble Two at Chino, California in 2007.
North American P-51D Mustang NL51JC The Brat III was delivered to the US Army Air Force as 44-72339 on January 7, 1945. It was flown by Lieutenant Hjalmar Johnsen of the 401st Fighter Squadron of the 370th Fighter Group of the 9th Air Force. It was transferred to the Swedish Air Force as Fv26115 in 1947. It was transferred to the Dominicana FAD in 1952. Johnson Aviation of Miami, Florida acquired it on May 19, 1984. Elmo Hahn of Muskegon, Michigan registered it as N51EH in November 1985. James Cavanaugh and the Cavanaugh Flight Museum of Addison, Texas registered it as N251JC in 1991 and then as NL51JC in 2001. It was transferred to Cavanaugh Air LLC on August 21, 2008. It started flying restored as Lieutenant Hjalmar Johnsen's mount The Brat III 44-72339 on June 23, 2011. In September 2013, while being flown by Chuck Gardner it suffered a blown engine. Gardner landed it off field on a dirt road.

Its North American construction number is 191-708. Tom Friedkin of Cinema Air Corporation registered it as N4TF in April 1990. It is powered by a General Electric J47 jet engine.

North American P-51D Mustang NL20TF flying as 44-63187 Bum Steer has been registered to Chino Warbirds Incorporated since December 2001. It was rebuilt as a Cavalier T Mk. 2 two seater in the 1960s. It received a new Air Force serial number, 67-14866, and was delivered to the FA Boliviana as FAB 521 on January 19, 1968. It was recovered by Arny Carnegie of Edmonton, Alberta in December 1977 and recieved the Canadian registration C-GXUR. McClain Flight Service of Strathmmore, Alberta bought it in November 1978. Cinema Air of Houston, Texas registered it as N20TF in October 1991.
